What Yankocy does

Yankocy Wholesale Building Materials is a family-owned building materials distributor in Monroe, Connecticut, founded in 1950. We sell wholesale only, to lumber, mason and landscape yards, building supply and pool dealers, and municipalities. We don't sell to contractors. We stock thirteen product categories from more than 30 brands, including NDS, Prosoco, Sika and Liberty Pumps, and deliver weekdays on our own trucks across Connecticut, southeastern New York, northeastern New Jersey, Long Island, western Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. Steeltex pool wire, shingle backer board and Bearcat wheelbarrows ship nationwide.

Three generations

1950
Ferdinand Yankocy opens the business in Bridgeport, CT. Bridgeport was an ideal location due to its proximity to the railroad tracks. As the business grew and our trucking system expanded, Yankocy moved to its current location in Monroe, CT.
1972
Ferdinand passes the business to his son Frederick J. Yankocy. Frederick served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in Japan, then graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and joined his father in the family business, where he worked full time until the age of 94.
1986
His son Fred S. Yankocy, who began learning the business as a teenager, officially joins the company after earning a Bachelor of Science in business from Sacred Heart University. Fred leads the company today as third-generation president.
