Wholesale ice melt by the pallet
Calcium chloride pellets and flake, magnesium chloride, rock salt and Blue Blizzard ice melt, sold wholesale by the pallet to yards and municipalities. Jackson snow shovels and pushers ride on the same truck. Book seasonal orders before the first storm.
Which ice melt works in the coldest weather?
Calcium chloride keeps melting ice down to about -25°F and gives off heat as it dissolves, so it works fastest in hard cold. Magnesium chloride works down to about 5°F. Rock salt costs the least, but it stops working below about 12°F.
| Ice melt | Works down to about | What we stock | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calcium chloride | -25°F | Pellets 25 and 50 lb; flake 25 and 50 lb (DOW) and 50 lb (imported) | Hard cold, and steps and entrances that have to clear fast |
| Magnesium chloride | 5°F | Flake and pellets, 50 lb | Moderate cold |
| Rock salt (sodium chloride) | 12°F | 25 and 50 lb | Large paved areas in milder storms |
| Blue Blizzard / Latexite | See the bag label | 40 lb bag, 30 lb pail | Blended ice melt |
Temperatures are from Kansas State University Research and Extension (2025). Results vary with the product, the pavement and the sun, so follow the bag label. Rock salt is known to damage unsealed concrete.
Ordering ice melt by the pallet
Yards and towns order ice melt from us by the full pallet. Each pallet is one product, so order a pallet of calcium chloride and a pallet of rock salt rather than one mixed skid. Book before the first storm, so pellets, flake and rock salt are already in your yard when the forecast turns.
| Pallet orders | Details |
|---|---|
| 50 lb bags | 48 to 55 bags per pallet, depending on the product (about 50) |
| 25 lb bags | About 100 bags per pallet |
| Full pallets only | We don't break or mix ice melt pallets. Each pallet is one product. |
| Delivery | Weekdays on our own trucks from Monroe, CT |
| Pick-up | Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm in Monroe |
| Storage | Keep bags on the pallet, off the ground and covered. Calcium chloride pulls moisture from the air and cakes in torn or open bags. |

Questions about ice melt & snow
What ice melt does Yankocy stock?
Calcium chloride flake (DOW 25 lb and 50 lb, imported 50 lb), calcium chloride pellets in 25 lb and 50 lb bags, magnesium chloride flake and pellets in 50 lb bags, and rock salt in 25 lb and 50 lb bags. Yankocy sells ice melt wholesale to yards and municipalities.
What is the difference between calcium chloride and rock salt?
Calcium chloride keeps melting ice down to about -25°F and gives off heat as it dissolves, so it works faster in hard cold. Rock salt (sodium chloride) stops working below about 12°F and is known to damage unsealed concrete, but it costs less. Yankocy stocks both, along with magnesium chloride flake and pellets.
