Plastic septic tanks: 1,000 to 1,500 gallon
Yankocy stocks plastic septic tanks wholesale in 1,000, 1,250 and 1,500 gallon. Most of the tanks we sell today are Fralo, Roth's blow-molded polyethylene septic tank, and we also carry Norwesco Low Profile dual chamber tanks. Both are one-piece, lightweight and won't rust. Effluent filters, distribution boxes and leach chambers ship on the same truck.

Fralo septic tanks by Roth
Fralo is Roth Global Plastics' septic tank brand. Roth calls it the first-generation blow-molded septic tank, and builds the newer Roth MultiTank to the same standards and certifications. Fralo tanks are seamless polyethylene with two compartments and 24" threaded manway covers, and Roth rates them for septic or pump tank use. IAPMO and CSA certification covers selected models, so check the listing for the size your design calls for.
Fralo's STAR risers bring the 24" covers up to grade. Ask inside sales for risers and covers with the tank.
Norwesco Low Profile
Norwesco's Low Profile tanks are one-piece, rotationally molded polyethylene with 20" manholes. The double compartment splits 2/3 and 1/3. Tanks come with PVC tees and gaskets loose, or with tees and septic adapters installed.
Low Profile tanks sit shorter and longer than Norwesco's ribbed Legacy line. They can be pumped dry, go in with 6" to 36" of cover, and also serve as pump tanks. We stock the Low Profile line, not Legacy.
Roth MultiTank
Roth tanks are blow molded in multiple layers of HDPE, with no seams, and ship fully assembled with multi-port inlets and outlets. Roth says they can be set up to 72" deep in some states and provinces. Roth lists the RMT to IAPMO cUPC under standard Z1000.
Effluent filters
An effluent filter is a screen cartridge that sits in the tank's outlet tee and holds solids back before effluent reaches the distribution box and leach field. We stock 4"x22" and 6"x22". Filter makers sell the 4"x22" cartridge alone or with tee baffles for SDR 35 or schedule 40 outlet pipe. Check which tee the tank has before ordering.
Who decides the septic tank size?
Tank capacity, compartments, filter and depth are set by the local health code and the approved septic design. Norwesco tells buyers to check with the local health department before installing any tank. We supply the tank. The design and approval come from your engineer or sanitarian.
Questions about septic tanks
How many bedrooms will a 1000 gallon septic tank support?
The local health code sets minimum tank size, usually by bedroom count or design flow, and the rule differs by state. Norwesco tells buyers to check with the local health department before choosing a tank. Size from the approved design. Yankocy stocks 1,000, 1,250 and 1,500 gallon tanks.
How big of a hole do you need for a 1000 gallon septic tank?
Start from the tank. A Roth RMT-1000E is 118" long, 62" wide and 51" high. A Norwesco Low Profile 1,000 gallon is 127" x 60" x 51". Add working room, bedding and cover per the maker's install instructions and the design. Check the data sheet for the exact Fralo or Roth model on your order.
Why use a plastic septic tank?
Polyethylene won't rust or corrode, and the tanks are light: a Roth 1,000 gallon weighs 450 lb, and Norwesco says two people can carry its tanks. Some models must stay full, so check the maker's notes. Norwesco says its tanks are approved by health departments coast to coast. Confirm with your local code.
What is an effluent filter?
It is a filter cartridge in the septic tank's outlet tee that keeps solids in the tank so they don't reach the distribution box or leach field. Yankocy stocks effluent filters in 4"x22" and 6"x22". Makers sell the 4"x22" cartridge alone or with a tee baffle for SDR 35 or schedule 40 pipe.
