Prosoco Sure Klean 600 masonry cleaner
Sure Klean 600 is Prosoco's acidic detergent cleaner for new brick, tile and concrete. It dissolves mortar smears and construction dirt and removes efflorescence. What is Sure Klean 600 used for?
Sure Klean 600 is the clean-down product for new masonry. It comes as a concentrate and is cut with water on site. Its wetting agents let a crew clean a larger section of wall at one time without streaking. Prosoco rates it for new brick, tile, concrete block and new stone, and for removing efflorescence on them.
It is not a restoration cleaner. Prosoco says it won't remove atmospheric dirt or black carbon from older buildings. For that work we stock Prosoco's Heavy Duty and Light Duty Restoration Cleaners, plus stain removers for rust, oil and asphalt.
What is the difference between Sure Klean 600 and Vanatrol?
Many brick colors contain vanadium, manganese or other metal oxides. The wrong cleaner, or the wrong dilution, can pull these to the surface as green or brown stains. Prosoco's data sheets split the two products this way:

Prosoco also warns that Vanatrol may cause color loss on thin brick and concrete brick. Test both products on each masonry type before the full clean.
Spec-level application facts
Prosoco's data sheet sets the ground rules; the applicator follows the full label and SDS. These are the points buyers ask about most:
- Clean new brick 14 to 28 days after laying. High-strength mortar cleans best within 7 days.
- Test a 4' x 4' area of each surface first and let it dry 3 to 7 days before judging it.
- Pre-wet the wall with fresh water, and keep the wall below the work area wet.
- Dwell time is 3 to 5 minutes. Don't let the cleaner dry on the masonry.
- Apply with low-pressure spray (50 psi max) or a soft masonry brush. Rinse at 400 to 1,000 psi.
- Clean when air and surface temperatures are 40 F or above. Mix in plastic, never metal.
Once the wall is clean and dry, Siloxane PD water repellent can go on. It ships on the same truck.
Questions about Sure Klean 600
Is Sure Klean 600 muriatic acid?
Not straight muriatic acid. Prosoco's safety data sheet lists hydrogen chloride, the acid in muriatic acid, as the active ingredient, but 600 is a proprietary blend with wetting agents and detergents. Prosoco markets it as safer than muriatic acid for new masonry and designed to clean without acid burn or streaking. Always follow the label and SDS.
How to apply Sure Klean 600?
Per Prosoco's data sheet: dilute with 4 to 12 parts water to 1 part concentrate, set by a test panel of at least 4' x 4'. Pre-wet the wall, apply bottom to top, leave it 3 to 5 minutes without letting it dry, then rinse thoroughly. Apply no more than twice to the same area.

How much area does a gallon of Sure Klean 600 clean?
Prosoco lists 500 to 900 sq ft per gallon of concentrate on fired clay brick and 600 to 1,100 sq ft on concrete brick, pavers and precast. A gallon of diluted cleaner averages about 100 sq ft.
